Footpaths / Public Rights of Way in the VIllage .

Regular walkers will have observed a CA 17 notice posted by ECC relating to a number of fields in and around the village. These notices advise you that the landowner has regiserted a CA16 applications for deposits under section 31(6) of the Highways Act 1980 with Essex County Council that will result in ancient footpath rights being extinguished on the land areas detailed in the notice.. If you are (or were, as som pathways have been closed already) a regular user and believe the footpaths should be retained you need to contact the Parish Council without delay.

Mobile Library.

Essex County Council is holding a consultation on the future of the mobile library service in the County. The existing fleet is aging and in need of replacement and the County is considering alternative ways of providing a service to the community. The statistics for the service that visits Doddinghurst do no look too bad in terms of the numbers of users and Doddinghurst meet the servive criteria for the distance of the village from a conventional library. We have posted notices of how to respond to the consultation in the Newsagents and on the village notice boards and you have until the 6th November 2017 to respond. Fly Tipping.

This is a crime that is on the increase. A hotline has been set up to report fly tipping and if it is witnessed make a note of the date and time and if possible the registration number of the vehicle plus, if it can be done safely, a photo. These are all a real help in getting the perpetrators prosecuted. The Environment Agency hotline is 0800 807060 and is 24/7

Village Bus Trips (AKA Bus Club).

The 2017 timetable is now available to view on notice boards in the village as well as on this website under the "Village Bus" menu tab. These outings use a Brentwood Community Transport 14 seater bus for day trips from Doddinghurst to go locations such as Bluewater, Cambridge, The Company Shed West Mersea and many other venues. Seats are limited and the cost is kept low - see timetable for per person price - as the organisation is run on a not for profit basis and the drivers are fully trained but unpaid volunteers. The vehicles are disabled traveller friendly. The service starts and ends in the Doddinghurst Village Hall car park in Church Lane. Please contat the driver directly to book your trip(s).
